Sean “the Irish Rasta” McNally
A 2007 graduate of Westlake High School, Sean assists coach Niece and specializes in training and developing the Westlake backs. Sean helped anchor a strong Austin Area High School Rugby team that won the state rugby championship in 2006 and went on to compete in the national high school championship tournament that same year. Sean’s play as fly half was good enough to qualify him for a national U18 developmental rugby squad that played a series of international matches while touring England in the spring of 2007. After graduation, Sean moved to Boston and played for the Irish Wolfhounds, a legendary men’s rugby team and perennial USA powerhouse. Now back in Austin after only a single winter up north, Sean currently plays rugby for the Austin Blacks. Sean’s national team coaches christened him the “Irish Rasta” when they first saw him compete with long dreadlocks. Thankfully, the nickname is all that remains of the locks.
